Repeat DWI Intervention (ROP)
Texas State Certified Repeat DWI Intervention (ROP)
Price: $250 (paid in full up front) or four payments of $80.
Persons convicted of two or more DWI’s are appropriate for this Department of State Health Services certified program. Also, first-time offenders are sometimes ordered to attend.
The standardized program is 30-45 hours in length: a registration and orientation session followed by fifteen 2 to 3 hour sessions offered either once or twice a week. Again, this program is designed for multiple DWI clients and others who have related problems that the Basic DWI program was not designed to address. The program targets prevention of further substance abuse related problems by intervening in alcohol/drug-oriented lifestyles.
The first six sessions of the curriculum deal with basic life issues: stress, values & self-esteem, positive thinking & irrational beliefs, goal setting and responsibility. During this portion of the program, participants usually become engaged with each other and in the process of the program.
Physical and mental effects of various substances, alcoholism and drug addiction are then addressed in the following two sessions, seven and eight.
The participants and their families attend sessions nine and ten. Family issues related to alcohol use are discussed: family dynamics, co-dependency and family self-help groups.
During the last five sessions, participants are provided information about available treatment options, self-help groups, relapse prevention, goal setting and action planning.
